Dear Brothers and Sisters of Central Plains,

The members and friends of Hutterthal Mennonite Church cordially invite and welcome you to the 9th Central Plains Mennonite Conference annual meeting in Freeman, South Dakota.  As the host congregation, we pray that you would be blessed by this time of fellowship, encouragement, and continuing ministry.  May we all come to know more fully the blessed call of our Lord to gather "together in Christ."  Certainly, that has been our experience as we plan for your arrival.  Locally, we have been blessed by the friendship and partnership of Bethany Mennonite, Salem Mennonite (South Church), Salem-Zion Mennonite Church (North Church), Freeman Academy (the local grade 5-12 Mennonite school), and the area Central Plains Mennonite Conference staff in preparing for our gathering.  They have truly been a blessing to us and we are fortunate to have them as continuing partners in ministry.

Joined by other Mennonite churches in eastern South Dakota, these congregations give testimony to their faith by word and deed both locally and throughout the world.  Some of their activities involve ministry through 10,000 villages (Sioux Falls) and the local Et Cetera Shoppe, MCC Meat Canning, the Minn-Kota Festival for World Relief (MCC Relief Sale in Sioux Falls), Swan Lake Christian Camp, Freeman Academy and urban ministries in the city of Sioux Falls.

This community is rich in people who have served with Mennonite Voluntary Service, Mennonite Central Committee and other organizations in many places around the globe.  The continued support of the area Mennonite churches for Mennonite Church USA conference work is evident. 

The 9^th annual meeting will open on Thursday evening, June 18, at the Hutterthal Mennonite Church located at 27473 437^th Ave., in rural Freeman.  On Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, the meeting will move to the Freeman Academy campus in Freeman.  The annual meeting will conclude on Sunday morning with a worship service on the Freeman Academy campus.

We hope you will enjoy your time in our rural setting.  We are looking forward to hosting this conference and pray that we will all be “Transformed by Christ” as we are called to be His Witnesses wherever we go and in whatever we do and say.
