It's officially spring, which means it's time for the Annual Leaders Retreat! Pastors, chaplains, other credentialed leaders and spouses are invited to join colleagues in ministry April 30 to May 2 at St. Benedict Center near Schuyler Nebraska. Hosted by the Pastoral Leadership Committee, the retreat includes a balance of input and rest, with the goal of renewing the spirit through encouragement, worship, and fellowship.
This year we will explore the theme, Where Do We Go from Here? The past few years have been challenging, and we wonder how to find meaning in what we experienced. Our spiritual lives and even our callings have been affected, along with every other aspect of our being. We ponder what it all means for the larger picture of our time on this earth. Through remembering and sharing our stories, we will begin to see patterns in our pasts, find meaning in the present, and envision pathways to the future.
We will be guided in this exploration by Amanda Bleichty, who served as the Central Plains Conference Minister for Christian Formation from early 2019 until the end of February. On March 1, she became co-director of Crooked Creek Christian Camp in southeast Iowa. She continues as editor of Scattered Seeds and the Sower. Prior to her role with the conference, Amanda was pastor at Washington (Iowa) Mennonite Church for seven and a half years. She and her husband Jon, along with their young sons, Henry (3) and Menno (1), live on a farm near Trenton, Iowa.
