With higher-than-average temps and winter snow melting away, signs of spring are all around us! And that means it’s time for the CPMC Annual Leaders Retreat scheduled for April 19-21 at St. Benedict Center near Schuyler, Neb.
The Annual Leaders Retreat is an opportunity for pastors, chaplains, and spouses to come together for renewal and relationship building. It is also a time for finding space to relax and retreat. This year, we will gather after supper on Friday, April 19, and depart after lunch on Sunday, April 21. There will be worship, good food, and the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. There'll also be ample free time for naps and recreation.
We will talk with and learn from one another around questions that emerged from the conversations many of you had with Pastoral Leadership Committee members over the past few months. Questions like, “What shaped you to become who you are today?” “What are your hopes, challenges, and dreams for ministry?” and “What will the church of the future look like?” If there are other more specific questions or case studies you'd like to reflect on with colleagues, please let me (Susan) know.
Because the retreat is over a weekend and we want to make it possible for all pastors to participate, Nathan Luitjens, our Executive Conference Minister, has graciously agreed to provide a video sermon for congregations that Sunday. He'd appreciate knowing if your congregation is interested in this option.
St. Benedict Center features a lake with walking paths, along with a labyrinth and Stations of the Cross. Guests are welcome to join the monks for morning prayers at the priory or peruse the retreat center library and art collections. Our own worship times will draw from the Anabaptist prayer book, and will include communion and an opportunity for anointing with oil.
